Would you like to be a leader or a specialist?

@老鹰为什么昨晚我发的帖子现在仍在审核中,是不是已经被删除了。
I’ve been troubled by this question these days. I keep on asking myself, “What kind of staff would you like to be?” Yet I have no idea about it.
There is a time when I wanted to be a senior mechanical engineer. But this didn’t last long before I learnt that most mechanical engineers get low pay. I had been extremely frustrated since I loved money so much. I was born in a poor family which couldn’t even afford my tuition when I was still a primary school student. I have to earn as much as possible as my family is not able to support me financially anymore. Money seems to be the most important thing for me now as it will cost me a lot to get married and decorate the house.
Once I was told by someone else that if I want to get a higher pay in the mechanical industry, I must be a leader. Only by becoming a leader, can I get more money. Here’s the problem. How to become a leader? Once I thought that I would be certainly promoted so long as I learn much more technical knowledge than others do. I did study hard for some time. But it turned out that I was totally wrong. Looking round, those team leaders around me don’t seem to know much about technology. They even aren’t familiar with how the machine which we are designing works. That’s ridiculous, isn’t it? But how could they become so-called leaders? I’ve no idea about it. Is there anybody here who’s able to explain it? I know that someone would say that leaders do have their reasons to become leaders. Okay, I admit that. Maybe leaders in the mechanical industry don’t need to know much mechanical knowledge. They simply need to learn how to manage a team. Am I right?
I know there does be someone who earns pretty much by being a mechanical specialist. But how many percent of us will earn as much as they do? I think very few of us will be able to do that. It is said that China is not an ideal country to work in as a mechanical engineer. I can’t agree more. In my company, no one’s gonna care about how much technical knowledge you have. No matter how much you’ve leant and how much work you’ve done as a mechanical engineer, the boss will simply remember your team leader because it is the team leader who has “undertaken the whole design”.
Believe me I didn’t intend to complain so much. But whenever I start, I can’t stop.One thing’s certain that I will never stop learning no matter what kind of job I’m going to do, either to be a leader or simply a mechanical engineer.

读完了,我同事和我说,搞技术是不行的,要学会搞政治。我领导也和我讨论过,他说技术只占30%

Don't be so frustrated.:loveliness:
As long as you are a mechanical engineer, you would not stop learning.
Once you are chosn to be a leader, you are certain that you would not stop learning as well.
Working for fun or for money? Both of them are indispensable.
Tell yourself that you will become an employee who get paid more because of being unique and irreplaceable, no matter what you are, a leader or a senior mechanical engineer.
Believe.
Do.
Smile. :loveliness:
